GT is the third instalment in the Dragon Ball series and sees the return of fan favorites like Goku, Vegeta and the other Saiyans. Seven years have passed since the end of Dragon Ball Z and the world has been at peace for quite some time now, but that is all about to change. The bungling Emperor Pilaf and his assistants Mia and Shu, from the original Dragon Ball, have made an unwelcome return.After climbing to the top of Korin Tower, Pilaf uses the Black Star Dragon Balls to turn Goku into a child, though this wish was unintentional and yet again Pilaf fails to take over the world. However this is only half of the problem, as due to the incredible power of the Black Star Balls, the earth will explode in one year if all seven are not gathered together once again. This sets the scene for Goku’s next fantastic journey as he takes on evil aliens, old enemies and even Shenron himself.

Goku

Since the day he arrived on planet earth, Goku has dedicated his life to being its protector. Now after decades of fighting and reaching all new levels of power, Goku must once again take up the gauntlet and protect his planet from evil. Having spent 7 years training Uub, Goku emerges from the training room of Kami’s Lookout, only to be turned into a child by Emperor Pilaf. This sets off the entire GT story that sees the Z Fighters returning to action to take on the likes of Baby and the returning fighters from hell. Now in his mid 40’s, Goku is stronger than ever, but age is beginning to catch up to him. Even in his child-like form he feels the effects of his physical limitations. Despite all this Goku fights on and with the help of his friends and family he is able to continue his duty as the protector of the earth.

Vegeta

Now with a large family of his own, Vegeta trains purely to better himself, having realised long ago that Goku would always be the number one Saiya-jin. In the beginning of the series he sports a rather hilarious moustache, but after being criticised by his daughter he quickly removes it. Not content with allowing his powers to wane as so may of the Z Fighters have done, Vegeta regularly works out in the Increased Gravity room, though he rarely spars with anyone anymore. It is clear that much of the bitterness has left Vegeta, yet he is still a Saiya-jin and so carries a great deal of pride wherever he goes. It hurts to know that Goku is the strongest there is, but the warriors share a mutual respect and a strong friendship.

Trunks

Now the President of Capsule Corporation, Trunks has grown into a very academically orientated individual. Tending to spend most of his days in the office, swamped with paper work, Trunks yearns to be out training or fighting and is often seen sneaking out of his office window. So, when the opportunity arises for him to go with Goku to recover the Dragon Balls, he jumps at the chance. Acting as pilot and navigator, Trunks goes with Goku and Pan across the universe in search of the coveted Black Star balls. He is also the first of the group to fall victim to the control of Baby the Tsfuru-jin, but his Saiya-jin powers save him.

Pan

Young Pan is Goku’s granddaughter and shares his fiery will and determination. On many occasions she gets herself into trouble but she can rely on her grandpa and Trunks to bail her out. Pan goes in search of the Black Star Dragon Balls, taking Goten’s place and along the way she makes friends with a small robot named Gyru. The pair are a perfect match and look after one another at all times. Though much weaker than the other members of her family, Pan is never afraid to get into battle, even when she should perhaps stay out of it. Whereas she was only seen in the last few episodes of DBZ, Pan is a major character throughout DBGT.

Gill

Goku, Trunks and Pan stumble across this little robot during their brief stay on the Planet Immega. They get off to a rough start when Gill eats the Dragon Ball Radar that Goku, Trunks and Pan are all using to shape their Dragon Ball hunt. It is later revealed that Gill has a Dragon Ball radar built into his own systems upon it's absorption, he joins the Saiyan trio and assists them in as many ways as he knows how, including guidance to the location of Dragon Balls. Gill spirals them into a very rocky stay on the Planet M2 later in the series, he is here accused of betraying his newfound friends. All is resolved sooner or later, Gill is proven to be a worthy companion to the travelling GT Cast.
