Rurouni Kenshin

Introduction

Rurouni Kenshin takes place around in mid 1800s during the age of the Meiji Revolution and the end of the Bakamatsu era. During this time, samurai were forbidden from carrying swords and a corrupt government was ruling Japan attempingt to make Japan a one economic system. In the ten years of the Meiji Era (1878), a vagabond swordsman is found wandering the streets of Tokyo. A strange man, has an x-shaped scar on his left cheek, carries a reverse-bladed sword and only wants to be left alone. Until the day he met a girl named Kamiya Kaoru that accuses him of being the man claiming the identity of the legendary Hitokiri Battousai and attack him because his murdering people in the name of her family's dojo. After he defeats the real killer, she invites him to come stay at her dojo, since he got no where to go and has been wandered the countryside for nearly ten years. It's the beginning of the story of Himura Kenshin before Meiji Restoration, Himura Kenshin was known as "Hitokiri Battousai", which means the "man who slays with his sword" and causes many fighters to fall beneath his blade. He was the top assassin for the reformist group Ishin Shishi However, when meets a woman by the name of Yukishiro Tomoe and he eventually falls in love with her though she is truly out to kill him because he had assassinated her fianc�. She later falls in love with him and eventually helps ease the pain of begin a killer for many years then sadly she is killed by Kenshin. Her fiance made the first scar on Kenshin's cheek and she made the 2nd to remember her when she is killed. After the death of his love and the Bakamatsu era he vow to never kill again but he still would protect people with his reverse-bladed sword. Kenshin is a man who is trying to escape his past, and create a future for himself with the help of Kaoru and the others characters that he meets just maybe have a chance. Combining excellent sword fights with stunning animation and the artwork of Rurouni Kenshin. Rurouni Kenshin takes place in Japan during the 1870's during Japan's restoration period known as the Meiji Era. During this time economic growth, shoguns were overthrown and the government of Japan changed to include trade with Europe and the Americas. It revolves around a red-haired man named Himura Kenshin, known for his deadly sword skills in the style and art of the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu.

Character Biographies

Kenshin Himura Himura Kenshin

Kenshin's real name is Shita. He was orphined when he was a child then taken by slave traders. Later that night the slave traders were attacked by bandits then killed. The bandits were about to killed Shita until Hiko Seijuro steped into the bloody scene and killed them all. He then saw Shita and telling him he was lucky to be still alive the next day he went to see how the Shita was doing then he saw that Shita made graves for the people who died that night, including graves for the bandits. Hiko took Shita under his wing and trained him the fighting style of, Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu after Shita learned the fighting style of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu he renamed him. His new name was Kenshin. When he was in his teens, the revolution was beginning and so Kenshin became an assasin by Ishin Shi Shi rebels was he would protect the innocent people in the revolution. After the revolution he met a woman and fell in love but later he accidentally killed her. From then on he vowed never to kill anyone again. He kept his sword just in case he had to fight, now he is using it to protect people he meets.

Kamiya Kaoru

Her father was the master of the sword budo, Kamiya Kasshin Ryu. He taught his budo in a dojo in Tokyo but before he die he passed on the budo to his daughter Kaoru which now she teaching the budo to the students who wanted to learn her father budo. So later on she start falling in love with Kenshin but never get Kaoru drunk, and never tell Kaoru that she's not very lady-like.

Myojin Yahiko

His family were well known and his family were strong samurai during the Tokugawa Shougunate, But after the revolution ended the family went into hard time. Yahiko mother fell ill and his father couldn't pay the bill for her medical so he had borrowed a large full of money from the Yakuza (Mafia) members. Unfortunetly both Yahiko parents were killed by the Yakuza members and left there son the debt. SO he order to pay off the debt he pick-pocket for the Yakuza about a few year's trying to pay off the debt but he didn't know was the Yakuza were lieing to him about he still need to pay off the debt. Kenshin and Kaoru saw Yahiko pick-pocket and help him go free. He is now a students of Kaoru to learn her father budo.

Sanosuke Sagara Sagara Sanosuke

When he was a child he fought as a member of the Sekihoutai Grop for the Ishin shin shin in the Revolution. Sanosuke didn't have a family name, and just went by as Sanosuke. He took the family named from his boss Sagara Sozo and the Sekihoutai group helped the Ishin win the revolution, but then they were betrayed by them. The Ishin said that they had no connection to the Sekihoutai, and lie to the people. Later Sanouke became a ganster and traveling the world to find a good fight and his weapon was a huge sword called Zanbaou. He then was hired by Hiruma Gohei to kill Kenshin but he refuse until Goheu told how strong was Kenshin. He fought Kenshin but lose later in the series he learn the Futae no Kiwami to show he wasn't weak.

Hiko Seijuro

Seijuro was the one who taught Kenshin the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu but he never taught the full fighting style of the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu because Kenshin wanted to fight for the people who were innocent. Later in the series Seijuro found Kenshin and force Kenshin to fight him and see how good was him. He was defeat but Kenshin Wanted to learn the full fighting style of the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu.

Shishi-o Makoto

When Kenshin left his job for the Ishin Shi Shi, they recruited Shishi-o Makoto to do rest of their killing. However when the war was over, and Ishin had control of the country, they tried to killed Shishi-o, for fear they he would turn his back and rule the whole country. So they burned him alive but he was not dead he somehow became part of the fire and be came more powerful than ever before. However because of his incredable burns he can't sweat and stay in a fight too long like about 12 mins. So if he doesn't get out of a battle about 12 mins he will become weak and die.
