Naruto

Introduction
Long ago, a demon fox with nine tails appeared. His tail was powerful enough to cause mountains to crumble and tidal waves to form with only a swing. The Shinobis fought long and hard to contain the demon until one Shinobi, Fourth Hokage, sacrificed his life to seal it. Onwards to the present: Naruto is the mischievous orphan of the Hidden Leaf Village who holds the dream that one day he will become greater than all the Hokage of the village. He seeks out attention wherever he can find it, but he is met with hostility by most of the villagers. Only Iruka-sensei shows him kindness, although Naruto is probably his worst student and is in danger of failing his graduation exam for the third time. On the day of Naruto’s graduation, Mizuki-sensei contrives a plot to steal Hokage-sama’s Scroll of Seals which includes several forbidden ninja techniques. That plot requires Naruto to break in and steal the Scroll and give it to him. When the villagers learn that Naruto has taken the scroll, Iruka-sensei goes after him and finds himself in the middle of the plot, where it looks as if Mizuki will take Iruka’s life to get his hands on the Scroll. Luckily Naruto has mastered one of the forbidden techniques and can use it to not only defeat Mizuki, but also graduate from the academy. Soon, Naruto is well on his way to becoming a full fledged ninja.
Character Biographies
Uzumaki
Naruto
Arguably, Naruto has had a harder life than most; growing up without ever having any parents and constantly being ridiculed by his fellow villagers for the evil force that resides within him. Naruto is kept in the dark about his true identity for a long time and it is the rebel ninja, Mizuki, who finally reveals to him that he has the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox sealed within him. Despite all this, Naruto is a fun-loving individual who tends to get himself into trouble when he skips out of class to play pranks on people. His ultimate goal is to make everyone recognise his great power and acknowledge his existence. He plans to do this by becoming Hokage; the highest ranked ninja in Hidden Leaf Village. Though at times he may act like a clown, deep down Naruto is hurting and when necessary he is not just a mere child, but also a great warrior. Along the way Naruto encounters many people who influence him, but none more than his teammates, Sasuke and Sakura.
Uchiha
Sasuke
Very unlike Naruto, Sasuke gives the impression of a very calm and collected individual. He is the last member of his clan and seeks vengeance for the deaths of his friends and family. All he knows is that the one he seeks has a peculiar eye, in fact the exact same kind of eye that you see when the Sharingan is used. Sasuke is the number one student in Hidden Leaf Village and far surpasses most of the other children in his class. He is part of Naruto’s group and though the two are rivals, clearly they share some form of bond and mutual respect for one another. The other group member, Sakura, never attempts to hide her affection for Sasuke, but he is not interested at all, even telling her that he find her annoying. Aside from his combat prowess, another of Sasuke’s great strengths is the way he keeps a cool head in battle and is able to analyse a situation before acting. This proves invaluable when the group is faced with fighting the Shinobi Haku.
Haruno Sakura
Sakura is a budding ninja just like Sasuke and Naruto, yet she is not quite so focused on achieving new and incredible abilities as they are. Her main point of affection is Sasuke, who she has a big crush on, but sadly the boy shows no interest in her. Ironically, Naruto really likes Sakura, but she couldn’t bear the thought of ever liking him, let alone replacing Sasuke as her number one love. In the beginning of the series, Sakura is able to perform techniques that neither Naruto nor Sasuke can quite master yet. This is because she is able to stay calm and control herself and her Chakra. However, Sasuke’s potential is substantially less than her comrades, though this is a fact that Kakashi keeps to himself. Very often we are able to see the inner Sakura who reflects Sakura’s true thoughts at any given time. Inner Sakura’s phrase of choice is “Hell yeah!” though like all of us, she never shows her inner self to anyone. As the series progresses, Sakura falls further and further behind the others in terms of ability and fighting prowess. This does not mean however that she is not a great ninja and a loyal friend, far from it in fact.
Hatake
Kakashi
Kakashi is a powerful Jounin and a well-respected member of the Hidden Leaf Village community. He assists in the training of prospective ninjas and often exposes his tutees to near impossible tasks. In fact, the group of Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura is the only group to pass his test to become Genins. The head protectors issued to Genins can be seen worn in a variety of different manners and Kakashi chooses to wear his so that it slants diagonally across his left eye. We later discover that this is to hide his Sharingan eye; a powerful force that very few people have. After seeing them become the first to pass his tests, Kakashi takes on the responsibility of watching over Naruto’s group and continuing their training. On many occasions Kakashi is the only thing keeping the children from death, especially when they come across the fearsome duo of Zabuza and Haku. Kakashi seems like a very secretive ninja, yet he studies his pupils closely and understands what each is going through and the hurdles they must face in the near future.
Umino
Iruka
Twelve years ago, when the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox attacked Hidden Leaf Village, Umino Iruka lost both of his parents. This gives him more right than anyone to hate Naruto, yet he seems to be the only one who doesn’t. Being Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura’s first teacher means that Iruka develops a relationship with the main characters and worries that they may get into trouble. He is responsible for teaching them enough that they may acquire their treasured head protectors and attain the rank of Genin. More importantly, Iruka is the first to acknowledge Naruto and make the child feel wanted. When everyone believed that Naruto had become a thief, Iruka was the only one who believed in him and helped him out of this troublesome situation.
