Saiyan Levels

Standard Saiyan

The Standard Saiyan stage is the foundation of all Saiyan levels. The Saiyans are all born with furry ape-like tails, which protrudes slightly above the rear of the Saiyan. Saiyans are commonly known as an extremely powerful race, and are known to have power surges at emotional peaks which may enduce this; anger, fear, frustration or rage for example. The Standard Saiyan's Power Level increases after every battle, showing that the Battle Experience plays a very important role for Saiyans. The early Saiyans were raised on a barren wasteland which forced them to survive on nothing but the necessities of life, this savage way of living gave the Saiyans great strength as a race which was passed down as a recessive gene in the family.

Giji Saiyan
This is the level a Saiyan reaches when he is extremely angered. It is half way between Super Saiyan and Normal Saiyan. The Saiyan becomes stronger and his hair stands up, like at Super Saiyan form, but remains black. Goku reached this form in movie 4.

Oozaru

All Saiyans have the uncanning ability to attain this level, there are set requirments but none can be controlled by the Saiyan themselves. The tail that the Saiyans all bare are there for a reason; Once a Saiyan gazes directly into the moonlight, it's tail begins to draw energy from the lunar rays. When the Saiyan has attained enough energy via his or her tail, they will make an astounding ascention to the Oozaru stage. For undeveloped Saiyans, the rage which they bear at this level is uncontrolable and there is little that can be done about their actions. However a more experienced warrior in the Oozaru State will bear some control over the Ape/Gorilla Cross-Body which they are temporarily in. The Oozaru Form shoots the Saiyans to over 60 feet in height on average, and gives them all the ability to fire powerful Ki Blasts from it's Mouth. It is also known that the Power Level of the Saiyan attaining this stage multiplies by 10.

Super Saiyan

Contrary to popular belief, there are no emotional surges needed for this stage. Many have speculated and said that a Saiyan undergoes this stage when his emotions have peaked, though it only occurs when the Saiyan reaches a great Power Level, though it is common for them to do this whilst in a state of anger or frustration. Physically, the muscle density doesn't bear too much of a difference after the ascention from Standard Saiyan to Super Saiyan, though the Ki Level takes a massive leap. Super Saiyans sport bright golden locks, almost a flurescent shade of blonde. The eyebrows of the Super Saiyan also gain the golden-blonde colour, and the eyes turn to a deep shade of emerald green.

Ultimate Super Saiyan
When a Saiyan has reached this level, his muscles get gigantic The muscles mass increase like crazy. This form is between SSJ and SSJ2. Power increases immensely and the Saiyan's power is near to that of the next level. But one disadvantage is because of the bulky body, the fighter becomes much slower and sacrifices power for speed. When future Trunks reached this level, he was fighting Cell, and he was much stronger than Cell, but he lost because of his slow speed. If you can't catch your opponent its no use being stronger than he is.

Super Saiyan 2

The Super Saiyan 2 stage isn't a great deal different to it's predecessor; the original Super Saiyan stage. However it does boast a reasonable increase in strength, thought not as significant an increase as Super Saiyan adds to the standard Saiyan stage. Appearance-wise, the Super Saiyan 2's hair becomes more rigid and firm and is subject to grow a small amount in height. The Super Saiyan 2 form's only requirment is so that there are no inequalities within the Saiyan's heart and soul, all emotions must be pure and concentrated on one thing. A misbalance of Good & Evil or Temprement & Calmness will prevent someone from reaching the level. When a Saiyan is experienced in this level, he finds it easy to ascend to this stage and it is not essential for him to get to this stage via the original Super Saiyan transformation.

Super Saiyan 3

The Super Saiyan 3 boasts the most dramatic change in both strength and appearance for the Saiyan Stages so far. Firstly, the hair of the Saiyan undergoes Transformations in Length, Colour and Texture. The colour changes from it's brighter blonde shade in stages 1 and 2 to a deep, golden shade. The texture becomes even more spikey and rigid, and the length soars down the back of the Saiyan and ends only upon reaching his calves. Another huge appearance change sees the Eye-brows of the Saiyan dissapear, and it is also thought that the jaw of the Saiyan grows longer slightly. The strong advancements can also be said about the Power Level which the ascendee reaches whilst fighting as a Super Saiyan 3, though it sapps alot of energy from the Saiyan and cannot be maintained for a large amount of time.

Golden Oozaru

The Ougan Oozaru stage is attained by Goku and Vegeta in Dragonball GT, and is not seen in any of Akira Torriyama's creations of Dragonball or Mangas. The transformation can be said to be an Oozaru who has gone Super Saiyan. As you can see from the image to the left, the fur of the Oozaru turns from its typical black state to a Golden colour, which is obviously where the name Golden Oozaru was given to the beast. Whereas in the original Oozaru form, Ki Attacks can only be performed through the mouth of the Oozaru, this Golden Oozaru stage posesses the ability to generate Ki Blasts from the palms aswell as the mouth. It is only from this stage that the Saiyan can make the final transformation into a Super Saiyan 4.

Super Saiyan 4

This stage can only be attained through the Ougan Oozaru form. Once the Ougan Oozaru learns to concentrate and focus his energy onto a single object, a transformation occurs which allows the Ougan Oozaru to condense into a Super Saiyan 4. The Super Saiyan 4 is the more unorthadox of the transformations, though the SS4 return to their humanoid state the appearance is very strange. The Saiyan's hair returns to it's normal colour though it isn't erect at it may have been at first, instead the hair falls to the mid back with two locks of hair hanging over the shoulders of the Super Saiyan 4. The body is also covered in a thick layer of fur, in Goku's case the fur is pink/red though it is speculated to be different for each form (Gogeta - Brown, Vegeta - Dark Red). The hair is absent from the torso, chest, neck, face and palms however. The SS4 eyes are now lined with red in this stage, this could very well change their spectrum of vision though nothing mentioned in the series implies this.
