Gundam Wing

Introduction

After Colony 195, The United Earth Sphere has seized control of the space colonies, using their overwelming power to counter the Earth Sphere. A group of colonies send five Gundams, along with their pilots, to Earth. The code name is Operation: Meteor. This operation was infact intended to take revenge on Oz. They would destroy Oz and kill the leader of Oz, Treize Khushrenada, for assasinating the colonies leader, Heero Yuy. The pilots of the legendary Mobile Suits are Heero Yuy, Duo Maxwell, Trowa Barton, Quatre Raberba Winner, and Chang Wufei. With their Gundams: Deathscythe, Shenlong, Heavyarms, Wing Gundam, and Sandrock, they will shake the foundation of The Alliance and change the course of history forever. As one of the Gundam pilots heads to Earth he is attacked by a pilot named Zechs Merquise. After the battle, he soon finds out that there were four more Gundam Pilots. A while later, an Oz trainer named Lucrezia Noin meets Wufei. Underestimating him, she is tossed aside. As the Gundams come together they are assigned a mission to destroy a new type of Mobile Suit, but infact it is more of a trap for the Gundam pilots. The mission to destroy and protect the new Suit seems to fail, so as a last resort the colonies are targeted with missiles, which render the Gundams helpless. Being forced to hand over the Gundams, Heero uses his self-destruct system giving the others the chance to escape. As time passes, sides change, and power changes hands. Oz attacks the Earth Sphere and takes control. As they takes control, the Gundams realize that they must head to space and fight for the colonies. The Romfeller Foundation takes control of Oz, in turn lowering Treize's position. This causes an up rise in Oz and it is split into two separate groups. At this time, Heero and Quatre head to Earth to protect Relina from Romfeller, along with the help of Noin, but, they are unable to protect Relina's country and she is forced to surrender. Using her high influence in some countries, Romfeller takes control of other rebel countries. During this time Duo, Trowa, and Wufei have all gone in hiding. Mobile dolls have also been created. They are Mobile Suits controlled by a computer that is programmed to use "Battle Tactics". As the enemy gets tougher, two of the Gundams are destroyed and rebuilt even stronger. These new gundams are called 'Altron' and 'Deathscythe Hell'. Also, two knew Gundams are introduced, both with a system that surpases the Mobile Dolls, but can only be mastered by a handful people. They are the Epyon and Wing Zero. As the countries of Earth come together through Queen Relina and the colonists being forced to obey Romfeller, a group of radical colonists rebel. They call themselves the White Fang. In an effort to bring peace to the colonies they take control of space battle ship Libra. Their leader is Millardo Peacecraft (also known as Zechs Merquise), and with his Gundam, Epyon, the White Fang is a huge threat. As Earth is under devistation, Treize comes back and relieves Relina of her ranking. Treize creates a gigantic army for Earth to defeat the constant threat of the White Fang. The Gundams also consider the White Fang a threat and join together with Peacemillion. Peacmillion is Zechs' old ship, which is now being used as a base for the gundams.

Character Biographies

Heero Yuy

The pilot of the unit 01, also known as the Wing Gundam. The code name “Heero Yuy” came from the name of the president of the colonies who has been assassinated. He is a very calm and collective individual who thinks only of the mission. The one trait that can be interpreted as either positive or negative, is that he isn't afraid to die; in every mission he carries out his orders without a fear of his own demise. When Heero meets Relena Darlian, an array of feelings wash over him as he tries to decide whether her existence places his mission in dire straits. Throughout the entire story of Gundam Wing, Heero must decide whether or not he has anything to protect and live for.

Duo Maxwell

Duo is the pilot of unit 02, also known as Deathscythe. His personality is quite the opposite of Heero's as he is very friendly and energetic. He has a great love for the colonies that he has come from and would stop at nothing to see the World Federation, but mainly OZ, destroyed. Duo makes the mistake of trying to figure out Heero's character, but not only is this impossible; it can also put him in great danger. He knows that he has the colonies to protect, but his dilemma is whether or not he has what it takes to do it.

Quatre Raberba Winner

Quatre is the son of a wealthy family in the colonies and his love also rests in outer space, as does Duo's. Quatre pilots unit 03, also known as Sandrock. Although he is a peace loving and seeking individual, his hope for the colonies makes him stray the path of total pacifism. As his whole family is non-militant, Quatre is pretty much disowned and becomes a Gundam pilot for the good of the colonies. His main dilemma throughout the story is to understand what the point of war really is.

Trowa Barton

Trowa is the pilot of unit 04, also known as Heavyarms. He is a very calm and collected individual like Heero, but his main problem is his amnesia, which makes him forget his true purpose and his true name. Trowa also has trouble showing any emotion and tries to take example from Heero. Trowa joins a circus group and meets Catherine, a knife-throwing performer. She is the only individual who truly helps Trowa understand himself better, yet she dreads the thought of him returning to battle.

Chang Wufei

Wufei is the pilot of unit 05, also known as Shenlong (Nataku). He is from China but also fights to protect the colonies using his Gundam. His main dilemma is that he believes he has nothing worth fighting for and that he is only strong enough to beat those who are weaker than him. After meeting Treize Khushrenada he realizes that he can't overcome the challenge. An ex-Federation officer named Sally Po helps him realize that there is something worth fighting for and that being weak doesn't give you an excuse to stop fighting.

Relena Darlian

Relena is the adopted daughter of a very big political figure negotiating peace between the Earth and the Colonies. She herself also believes strongly in peace and will stop at nothing to achieve it, especially when she meets Heero Yuy, a fighter for the colonies. Through the course of Gundam Wing, Relena's father is assassinated, leading to her discovery of what her true heritage is. It emerges that her real name is Relena Peacecraft, a ruler of the Cinq (Pronounced Sank) Kingdom. Her main dilemma is that the man she loves, Heero, and her own brother, Milliardo Peacecraft (Zechs Marquise) fight against one another as adversaries. Relena becomes the central reason for Heero's existence even though at first he swore to kill her.

Zechs Marquise

Zechs Marquise, also known as Milliardo Peacecraft, is an heir to the throne of the Cinq Kingdom; a peace loving, non-violent nation, which was destroyed by the Federation some years ago. He assumes the alias of Zechs Marquise in order to be able to fight against the Federation, in his group, OZ. Zechs is a remarkable pilot and his mobile suit is a prototype for all of the Gundams that were created. He fights in the Tallgeese. During the series, Heero and Zechs have a few confrontations in order to finish up their first fight from when unit 01 first appeared. Zechs knows that he is not suited to take the throne of the rebuilt Cinq Kingdom, so his hope is to have his sister Relena govern it. Zechs is honourable, but he is deeply concerned that he has strayed from the ways of his family.

Treize Khushrenada

Treize Khushrenada is the charismatic leader of the World Federation's Special Forces, OZ. Although he rarely battles on the front lines, when he does he uses the Gundam Epyon, which later becomes Heero's mobile suit. Treize is a very honourable man, but he knows when and how to take advantage of things. Although he is very close to Zechs Marquise, he knows that if Zechs ever steps over the line then it's up to him to destroy Marquise. Treize finds out that Relena is Zechs' sister and realizes the potential problems it may cause. However, because Zechs is a good friend of his, he tries to protect them in his own way. His main obstacle in the story is Chang Wufei, who challenges him to a number of duels. Treize has honour, class, and the ruthless ability to overthrow governments, but in the end who remains standing?
